Upcoming Oil & Gas Lease Auction

Categories: MineralsThe Department of Trust Lands, on behalf of the Board of University & School Lands, will hold its next online oil & gas lease auction from August 6-13, 2024, on https://www.energynet.com. The nomination deadline for the auction is June 21, 2024.
Changes to Nomination/Auction Fees: Effective April 1, 2024, the Department no longer collects a $50.00 fee for the nomination of a tract for an oil and gas lease; there is no fee at the time of nomination. Once a lease is won by the highest bidder at auction or by the nominator when no bids are received at auction (“the successful bidder”), auction fees provided for in ND Administrative Code § 85-06-01-03, as amended, in the total amount of $50.00 per lease, shall be paid by the successful bidder, in addition to the bonus and all rental payments.
Oil and gas tracts available for lease may be nominated online at the following link: https://land.nd.gov/Minerals/LeaseSearch.
To nominate a tract, enter the legal description (Township-Range) you are interested in, and the site will list tracts open for nomination as “Available.” If the tract you are interested in is available, check the box located next to “Available” and select the “Nominate” button at the bottom of the page. You may select multiple boxes per page before selecting the “Nominate” button.
